The Save Mail button on the lower right of your screen can be used to save your mail without having to print it out and waste paper. To use it, just drag over and select the letter you want to save, and click the button.
After you use this button, you'll have a file in your GEnie Folder called "Mail." Every time you use the button, the new mail will be added to the end of the Mail file, so that it will grow bigger and bigger. It's a good idea to back it up and delete it every once in a while, so it doesn't get too large.
Formally, this button takes the text you have selected in the terminal window and appends it to a file in your GEnie Folder called Mail. If the file does not exist it will create it. If the file already exists it will add the new information onto the end of the file. Note that you can use this to save any text at all if you like; it works for anything you select.
If for some reason the script can't save the mail, it will alert you to the fact. The most common cause of this is that you have the mail file open in another application -- perhaps you were browsing it with your word processor. Some word processors, especially Microsoft Weird, will occasionally leave files open even after you've closed them. Quit Word if this happens.
If you continue getting messages that the mail file can't be written, use the "Save selection as..." menu choice under File to save the mail. Back up your mail file and delete it; that should take care of the problem.
